Food in Las Vegas is surprisingly some of the best around. And my trip started off with just that for lunch! My friend's family and I all went to Estimators Milos restaurant for some good Greek goodness! The lunch menu is $25.15 for a three-course meal (not bad at all!) and if you add the wine pairings like we did another $16. Sure, it's expensive, but I'd say well worth the pretty penny here. Without delay, here are some of the delicious items you could find yourself having at Milos. As part of the three course lunch, I started with the grilled octopus. I've had plenty of squid, never octopus. After I ate this, I concluded octopus is much more delicious than squid. Now, I've never had either raw, nor do I really feel inclined. The Mediterranean octopus was perfectly cooked (confirmed by my friend), which had a chewy-tender texture, with a delicious charcoal flavour. It's an extra $10 on the menu, but as I see it, go big or go home. Try something new! I know... this doesn't look like much for a main course. Neither do scallops. I assure you, this is something you get where it leaves you satisfied, not bloated to high hell. For my main dish I got the shrimp saganaki, sided with cous cous and topped with a fresh tomato sauce and feta cheese. A few herbs and spices thrown in this dish, this meal showed that simple is good. Not much to say about this other than if you like what you see, it tastes as good as it looks! Not living on the edge with this one, but shrimp I'm a huge fan of so.... I have never had Greek yogurt like this before - probably because this is the real deal Greek yogurt. So rich and creamy, I wish I could have had more. The strawberry drizzle on top is just an added bonus. I think I was ready for a nap after this delicious meal, but being at the Cosmo... time to gamble! While I do not recall the wine pairings with each dish, the restaurant doesn't mess around as each was fantastic! The only thing I would have changed here would be having the shrimp as the appetizer and octopus as the main course.
So if you're in Vegas (or Montréal) and feel like a nice Greek meal, hit up Milos! The service was great and the meals amazing! Good portions too won't have you curling over!

The holidays + feeling slightly under the weather really dampened my 12 days of cocktails. However, still intending to finish this holiday drinkathon, let's dive into our 8th day - the Negroni. This is a great drink to enjoy after a meal. So next big feast you have, enjoy one of these after (or before that works too!). It's incredibly easy to make and is bitter sweet. The Negroni may be an acquired taste for some, but it worth it! Add some orange zing and this drink is fantastic!
Cheers! Ingredients: 1.25 oz. Beefeater Gin 1.25 oz. Campari 1.245 oz. Martini Sweet Vermouth Store with ice and strain into a chilled coupe or over ice in a chilled rocks glass. Garnish with an orange twist. |
